General Information
The beautiful panelled and painted rooms of the Town Hall Centre are one of Braintree’s best kept secrets! Now licensed for weddings, the Council Chamber can seat up to 80 on original leather chairs.
The Chairman’s Room is also licensed for small ceremonies of up to 20 people.
The downstairs Room 1 is the ideal place for your private interview with the Registrar and is licensed for very private ceremonies with Bride, Groom and Witnesses.
The Lounge can be used by the Bride for her “last minute” preparations, with full length mirror, comfortable seating etc.
The ‘secret’ door between the Chairman’s Room and Council Chamber makes for a dramatic entrance for the Bride.
The Art Gallery can accommodate up to 80 for drinks and canapés for a post ceremony toast prior to guests leaving for their chosen reception venue.
A special feature of the Town Hall Centre is that it is five minutes walk from the Railway Station, has its own car park which can be reserved for guests and is next door to a public pay and display car park which is free after 6.00pm.
The beautiful stained glass window and grand staircase are perfect for memorable photographs.

The Town Hall Centre does have flowers on the main staircase at all times and brides are welcome to decorate to their own designs. However, we can provide a pedestal and desk arrangement plus stairs x 3 (traditional or modern styles), professionally arranged to your chosen colour scheme for £200. Receptions
For larger parties (up to 80), the adjacent Learning for Life Centre can be booked (until midnight) if you wish to arrange your own catering and entertainment.
Cost £50 per hour.
N.B. The Town Hall Centre is not suitable for events with dancing or entertainment.
Ask Staff for advice or to accommodate your individual ideas for a dream day.
· We can give names and addresses of caterers and music providers.
· Families can provide their own music or we can provide a PA system, with trained technical support, for your ceremony for £100.
· Cancellation within 21 days of event – full cost charged.
· £100 deposit required at time of booking.
· £200 deposit required at time of booking for Ceremony Plus II.
· Remember, as with all other venues, Registrar’s Fees are extra.
